Shanghai Disney Resort is gearing up for the grand opening of Zootopia, and one of the most exciting reveals has been the costumes to be worn by cast members. The reveal took place during an exclusive fashion show attended by over 200 cast members, who were given a first look at their new uniforms and details about them from the Costume Development team.
Susanna Ching, Costume Development Manager, was the one to share these wonderful details with the cast in Shanghai. Having started her journey at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort more than a decade ago, Susanna transferred to Shanghai Disney Resort in 2016 for its grand opening, initially working in cosmetology before joining the costuming team.
In creating the cast costumes for Zootopia, Susanna worked closely with Senior Costume Development Manager, Lynn Kaufmann, and Costume Designer, Yonit Olshan, from Disney Live Entertainment. With over 16 years of experience at Disney, Lynn's expertise was invaluable, while Yonit, who has spent six years at the company, brought fresh ideas to the table, having recently designed the mix and match cast costumes for Mickey’s Toontown at the Disneyland Resort.
The highly anticipated Zootopia land promises to immerse guests in the colorful and vivid world of the popular animated film, where "anyone can be anything". With the new costumes, the cast members will undoubtedly play a significant role in bringing this enchanting world to life.
It's worth noting that the new costumes aren't the only exciting feature of Zootopia. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with many of their favorite characters from the film, including Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, Flash, Clawhauser, and more.
Zootopia at Shanghai Disney Resort is set to open on December 20, 2023. With the new costumes now revealed, the excitement is building for what is sure to be a magical addition to the resort.
