Disney Villains to Take Center Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Big changes are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Disney has announced that the beloved Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy will be replaced by an all-new Disney Villains show, set to debut in the summer of 2025.

For those who haven’t yet experienced Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, now is the perfect time to visit before it closes on October 7. This 10-minute show immerses guests in the world of Cars, where they take on the role of “rookie racer.” The theater features a nearly two-story tall, 200-foot wide wrap-around screen that brings the action to life. Lightning McQueen, eager to showcase his skills, faces off against his rival Chick Hicks in a virtual simulator race, with support from Mater, Cruz Ramirez, and other friends from Radiator Springs.

But as one door closes, another opens. The creative minds at Disney Live Entertainment are hard at work transforming Sunset Showcase into the mysterious realm of the Magic Mirror. This new live production will feature some of Disney’s most infamous villains, including Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent, each breaking through the glass to take the stage in spectacular live production numbers.

This new show is part of a broader initiative to bring more villainous fun to Disney parks, complementing the future Villains-themed land announced for Magic Kingdom during D23.

Stay tuned to The Disneyland View for more updates on this exciting new show and other magical experiences coming to Disney parks around the world!
